What’s your favorite part of interior design?
I have a super organized mind and always had a desire to be super artistic without the actual ability (in art, painting etc). Interior design allows for an artistic expression but almost in an organizing collectors mentality. I truly love that interior design is welcoming to anyone who is willing to learn, I also love that there is very few ways to be wrong about interior design. Styles over decades have changed and some have withstood the test of time and it allows for a constant change and adjustment to continue to express the creative side of myself!
How many kids/family members do you have, and do they help you with DIY projects?
My husband is 100% my go to man to make my design dreams come true. We are constantly bouncing ideas off each other when it comes to DIY and often fighting over who gets to claim the good ideas. He also comes to my rescue whenever I don’t do the greatest DIY job. I really could not do any of my projects without him. Our daughter is a little too young to fully participate in the projects but she loves to try. If I am under a sink installing she’s usually climbing on top or helping grab a paintbrush anytime she can. I am so excited for her to share this interest though and continuously want to participate with mom and dad!
What’s your favorite part of working on a new project?
When working on a new project I love taking my time to determine all the pieces and parts and then envisioning how it will all come together. As you work on it and the pieces begin falling in place, it is the most successful feeling (well behind someone coming and pointing out how great it looks!)
Do you prefer using Steel Lighting Co. for interior or exterior lighting, and why?
To be honest, I love Steel Lighting Co. for all their lights and would have them anywhere but I really love their lights outdoors. When you look at traditional hardware companies or lighting companies many of their light fixtures are designed for indoors and the selection for outdoor lighting is extremely boring or dull. Steel Lighting Co. allows for this amazing statement to be made before even walking in the door. We chose the Manhattan to really make a big statement and great curb appeal!
